Judge Marie B. "M'elise" Trahan

The City Court of Crowley was created by a Special Legislative Act with a territorial jurisdiction extending throughout the city limits of Crowley and all of Ward 6, Acadia Parish, Louisiana. It has one elected City Judge and one elected City Marshal, both having six year terms.

The City Court of Crowley generally excercises concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in civil cases where the amount in controversy does not exceed $30,000*. In criminal matters, the City Court of Crowley has jurisdiction over city ordinance violations and misdemenor violations of state law. It also handles a large number of traffic cases.

The City Court of Crowley also exercises concurrent jurisdiction with the district court over juvenile matters, in both delinquency cases and Child in Need of Care (CINC) cases. It also presides over juvenile traffic matters.

* The small claims division accepts claims up to $5000.
